![]() This combined with some common sense placement rules (i.e., you won't get an option to build a Farm in a desert) means there there will usually be some order emerging from the chaos. The randomness is tempered, however, by the fact that you always have a seventh choice: The "Shuffle" which allows you to spend a turn or two generating six new structure options to select from. This system forces the player to improvise. As a potentate of this era, you might realistically be able to nudge your development in a certain direction, but much of it will remain in the hands of market and societal forces not directly under your control.Īnd not only is this randomness more realistic, it also makes for great game play: You are prevented from min-max power-gaming your way to victory, by boringly choosing the same buildings in the same order, region after region, game after game. On top of that, many of these structures are traditionally private enterprises anyways. Rather, you are placed in the role of an emperor (or chieftain or king or senate leader) of a Roman-era state whose government bureaucracy is minuscule by today's standards. Now, in case you're wondering "why can't I just build any available building I want?" the answer is simple: In FOG: Empires, you're not an omnipotent leader of a hypothetically perfect modern day Soviet-style economy. The six choices are chosen with weighted randomness out of the generally available structures for each category. Needless to say, you'll be able to watch some halfway decent (IMHO!) FOG: E game play there as well.]Įach region in Field of Glory: Empires, at any given time, will offer you six choices of structures to build, one in each of the six building categories: Agricultural (green), Healthcare (blue), Infrastructure (pink), Military (red), Commerce (gold), and Culture (purple). Not only did he provide many valuable insights into the game's mechanics that I was unaware of, but he also saved me from a couple key misconceptions as well! ![]() I want to give a big thank you here to the game's designer, Philippe Malacher aka "Pocus," for taking the time to review the first draft of this Guide. I hope to continue to keep it up to date. As of today (May 21, 2020), this Guide has been updated up and to including all the material which came with the release of the most recent Persia DLC. That complaint is no longer valid, obviously, but I'm going to leave that part of the post as it is so we have a record as to what it was.[Hello, I'm Grognerd, and I am one of the playtesters for Field of Glory: Empires. What are y'alls thoughts on the Fishing Hut?Įdit: Well, they changed the location to just to the left of the casino, therefore making it easier to get to even if you have timers on. More like what the other minigames should have been, a decently fun way for anyone to pass the time while you're either waiting on something to happen, or waiting on a timer. There's no way to max everything involved with the Hut by just pulling out your wallet.Īs for the actual fishing, it can feel a bit tedious at times, but to me it feels like it's tedious in a good way. Your fishing level starts at 1 and only goes up with Fish EXP, which so far you can only get by grinding the minigame. One thing I do like about the minigame though, is that it's meant for you to grind rather than pay money to get maxed. I can understand why the devs put the Hut above the Adventurer Hall considering as it's another mini-game, but they really should have thought that through a bit more, or gave us back the level of zoom we had before where we could easily zoom to get a close up of a building. On my phone, the device that I generally do all my gameplay on, I can either have only one timer going, or I can zoom in just a little bit and tap in that general area hoping that I hit the one valid pixel. If nothing else, I guess I felt like sharing.įor starters, the positioning of the actual building is annoying as hell. But maybe a central post to talk about the pros and cons of it might help us get more of the same. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why I'm making a post about the Fishing Hut since it's kind of an odd thing to make a post about.
